About Dance For Nance

Each year friends and family gather and dance the night away in honor of our beautiful angel Nancy Marie Ambrosio Arner.

As we all know, Nancy loved to dance and she loved a good time.
Our goal is to raise money for Nancy’s favorite charity, St Jude. Nancy loved everyone but especially loved children.

Miss Nancy - Nancy Marie Ambrosio Arner

There once was a brave, tough, funny, loyal, loving and energetic little girl from Huntington NY that loved to dance. As a young child she took as many as dance classes as she could. In school she would tell all of her teachers that, when she gets older "she will own a dance school". She dreamed about owning a school that was fun for all and taught the core fundamentals of dance. Her name was Nancy and anyone that knew her would all say that she had so much positive energy that it was infectious, even as a child!

Nancy loved dancing so much that eventually she began to teach at the very young of 12. She started out as a student teacher at The Huntington School Of Music And Dance and when she was old enough, she began teaching dance classes by herself. She continued to teach throughout her high school years.

Nancy's passion for owning a dance school was so strong that she decided to forgo college and instead learn more about dance. She took many classes and studied dance at various studios in and around New York City.

In 1997 at the age of 20, Nancy took a leap of faith and opened up Dancin' Feet. She started small with one studio. Shortly after opening, her business began to grow via word of mouth. Both students and parents loved Dancin' Feet and Miss Nancy. She knew she needed to expand and she also knew she needed the best teachers to help the studio grow and carryout her vision of fun and proper technique. After interviewing a few dozen candidates to teach dance class she was feeling hopeless. Then one day a women called that read her ad and told Nancy her story along with all of her experience. Nancy had a good feeling about this one. Could this be the one? Nancy invited the woman to the studio for an in person interview. In comes Miss Michele with her little girl carrying her Barney stuffed animal (Miss Danielle). After about 5 minutes of conversation, the two of them hit it off and the magic started to happen. But what about more space to dance?

As luck would have it, the store owner next to Dancin' Feet wanted to get out of her lease. Nancy wanted to take over the lease immediately if not sooner. That was Nancy, she had no fear and moved 1000 miles per hour. The store owner agreed to let Nancy take over her lease. That was GREAT NEWS! But there was a "catch", the store owner needed to sell all of the bird food and bird supplies before she could leave her store. Under normal circumstances, this would take months. But what the store owner didn't know, is that Nancy was not "normal". Within minutes of finding out about the "catch", she started selling bird food and bird supplies to people in Dancin' Feet's parking lot. She ran ads, hung signs and before you know it, the store was empty. Again, that was Nancy. When she wanted something done, it got DONE and it got done FAST! Dancin' Feet was now twice the size.

At the same her cousin Stacey (Miss Stacey) just graduated college and was all set to start a career in teaching. At least that's what Stacey thought. But once again, Nancy had different plans. She knew Stacey was an excellent dancer and great with young kids. The perfect fit. In comes Miss Stacey.

Dancin' Feet was the most important thing in Nancy’s life until she had her own family. In 2004 she married Marc and in 2005 she had SammyMac followed by Rosie in 2007. Nancy was now a wife and mother. Nancy treated her family the same way she lived her life. Nancy loved her children with so much energy it was indescribable. Always kissing and hugging her kids throughout each day. She was the best mother and wife anyone could imagine. Always there for her husband and children and always taking the extra step to make sure everything was absolutely perfect for them.

Nancy treated her family and friends the same way. She was always the first person to help and always made sure she spoke to her friends and family often. She always remembered birthdays and special events and made sure to give gifts that were meaningful and showed how much she loved people.

On January 19th 2019, Nancy became an angel. She was an angel on earth and now she is angle in heaven. We must all try to be like Nancy. Follow your dreams, go 1000 miles per hour, love BIG and make sure to spend time with your friends and family.

Nancy's legacy will live on through all of us for generations to come. Every time you dance, think of Nancy and Dance For Nance!
